40-year-old single mom refuses to let 21-year-old niece stay with her for free after her sisters move in too, she kicks her out: "I have to feed 6 mouths now"

Hey there ladies and gentlemen of the internet. If you're Gen X or Boomer, then you know what it means to live in a decently functioning economy. We make jokes and memes about it, but it's actually a really serious thing, and colossal to living a decent life. Why do you think millennial humor is so existential and self-deprecating? Do you know what it's like to grow up making just enough money to pay for rent in a dilapidated apartment with two other roommates, and you have to eat beans and rice for dinner because eggs are too expensive? Even in the Great Depression everyone could still afford eggs and milk. These days? It's highway robbery to purchase the bare minimum.

It's surprising that anyone can make it in this economy, or that anyone actually has something in a savings account or that they can afford to buy a house. My take is that the person must come from money.
